It has been a fun month of Blue Jays baseball. Lots of longballs, MLB lead in quality starts, and a .500 record from a team predicted to do significantly worse. Plenty of fodder for a new blog to manipulate for its own good. Unfortunately, not all is happycat in Jays-ville. The team does not hit for average, and the bullpen has proven unstable at times.
Some April highlights include:
Three starters take no-hitters into the 6th or beyond.
Vernon Wells enjoying a hot start, hitting for power and average. Alex Gonzalez providing similar production.
Jose Molina with a Jays record for catchers - gunning down 4/4 stolen base attempts in one game.
Another catcher, John Buck, hitting three homeruns in one game.
Wells, Bautista and Gonzalez (twice) with two homeruns on one game.
Wells with his 200th career homerun and 741st career RBI. 741 RsBI move Wells into 2nd place on the Jays all-time list - ahead of George Bell, trailing Carlos Delgado.
For those wondering, here are the April numbers for happy cats and angry little girls:
JAYS RECORD: 12-12 (.500)
HAPPY CATS: 16
ANGRY LITTLE GIRLS: 9
LENS FLARES: Awesome
May holds potential for lots more interesting baseball and JaysSTAT content. I'll be looking to keep things fresh, while staying true to our roots. Lens flares for all, forever. Thanks to the readers for making month number one so much fun.
